Eazer is a technology-enabled marketplace and delivery platform connecting shoppers, merchants and driver partners. Customers can use the Eazer App to order food, groceries, fashion items, beauty products, electronics and other everyday essentials from trusted local businesses.
Eazer also helps merchants reach more customers, manage orders and grow their sales, while driver partners earn income by picking up and delivering orders on a flexible schedule.
Role Summary
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for growing Eazer’s merchant network, building strategic partnerships, increasing app adoption and generating revenue.
The successful candidate will identify and onboard restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacies, fashion stores, beauty businesses and other merchants. The person will also develop relationships with corporate organisations, community groups and potential business partners that can support Eazer’s expansion.
This is a target-driven role that requires strong sales, negotiation, relationship-management and market-development skills.
Key Responsibilities
Merchant Acquisition and Onboarding
* Identify and recruit restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacies, fashion stores, beauty shops, electronics vendors and other suitable merchants.
* Present Eazer’s services and explain how the platform can help merchants increase sales and reach more customers.
* Guide merchants through account creation, store setup, product listing and order-management processes.
* Ensure newly registered merchants complete onboarding and become active on the platform.
* Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective merchants.
Partnership Development
* Identify partnership opportunities with businesses, associations, estates, schools, offices, hotels and community organisations.
* Develop corporate and bulk-order partnerships.
* Negotiate mutually beneficial commercial agreements.
* Build relationships with brands, distributors and service providers that can support Eazer’s growth.
* Represent Eazer at business meetings, trade events, exhibitions and community activities.
Sales and Revenue Growth
* Develop and execute business-development strategies to meet merchant-acquisition and revenue targets.
* Increase the number of active merchants and completed orders on the platform.
* Work with merchants to improve their product listings, pricing, promotions and sales performance.
* Identify new revenue opportunities, service categories and expansion areas.
* Prepare proposals, presentations and partnership agreements.
Merchant Relationship Management
* Maintain regular communication with merchants and business partners.
* Resolve onboarding, operational and relationship issues promptly.
* Collect merchant feedback and share useful insights with the operations and product teams.
* Help merchants understand platform features, promotional opportunities and performance reports.
* Encourage inactive merchants to update their listings and resume accepting orders.
Market Research and Expansion
* Monitor competitors, customer needs and local market trends.
* Identify high-demand products, underserved locations and promising merchant categories.
* Recommend new markets, neighbourhoods and business sectors for expansion.
* Provide management with reports on sales activities, partnership opportunities and market conditions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with marketing to plan merchant campaigns, promotions and customer-acquisition activities.
* Collaborate with operations to support order fulfilment and merchant performance.
* Work with customer support to resolve recurring merchant or customer concerns.
* Provide feedback to the technology team on features that could improve merchant and customer experience.
Performance Indicators
The Business Development Manager will be assessed using measurable targets such as:
* Number of new merchants contacted.
* Number of merchants successfully registered.
* Number of merchants fully onboarded.
* Number of active merchants receiving orders.
* Merchant activation and retention rates.
* Number and value of strategic partnerships secured.
* Growth in completed orders and revenue.
* Corporate or bulk-order accounts acquired.
* Merchant satisfaction and issue-resolution performance.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Management or a related field.
* At least three years of experience in business development, sales, partnerships or account management.
* Experience working with restaurants, retailers, e-commerce, logistics, fintech or technology platforms is an advantage.
* Strong knowledge of the Lagos business environment.
* Demonstrated ability to meet sales and business-development targets.
* Good understanding of digital platforms and mobile applications.
